Trello is the easiest tool on this list to start using, and that is not a small thing. The question is what happens after the board fills up — when the work needs a conversation, a deadline that belongs to somebody, and a second view.

Giving the point away
Three of them, and none is a throwaway. If these are what your team runs on, Trello is the right answer and we would rather you knew now.
A board, a list, a card. Trello is the one tool a team picks up without being taught, and our Boards sit inside a larger product, which costs a little more at the start.
10 collaborators and 10 boards per Workspace, against our 8 people and 2 boards. If you are nine people who need boards and nothing else, their free plan goes further than ours.
Unlimited Power-Ups per board on every plan, on top of Atlassian’s ecosystem. A team that wants one specific integration will usually find it there and not here.
Where the difference shows
Trello has cards and comments under them; a chat it does not have, so the talking happens in a tool beside it and the decision stays there. In taos the work starts in the conversation, which is why a message becomes a task and the task’s comments come back to the channel it came from.
A reminder, an event in a calendar — yours or somebody else’s — or a task on Boards in the project you pick, on every plan. Not a card you go and create somewhere else and then paste a link to.
Kanban, list, table and Gantt on every plan, Free included. Trello keeps Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map for Premium, which is the plan above the one most small teams buy.
Switch between client organisations without logging out, with every notification from every module in one list, whatever your role in each. An agency with eight clients does not keep eight tabs open.
Feedback Friday, kudos and surveys from the free plan; pulse surveys and eNPS from Workspace. Trello has no answer here, and a Power-Up for it is another vendor, another subscription and another place the answers land.
