Salesforce bought Slack so the conversation and the customer record would be one story. For sales, it largely is. This page is about the rest of the company — and about a clause most buyers never read, because it is the most surprising thing we found while writing these pages.
Capability by capability
Every line about Salesforce (Slack + Sales Cloud) was read on its own pages on 24 September 2026. Where we are still building something, the table says so.
| Salesforce (Slack + Sales Cloud) | ||
|---|---|---|
| Conversation | ||
| Message history on the free tier | Slack Free keeps 90 days of message history. Sales Cloud editions below Core include Slack Free. | Six months on Free, and no cap above it. |
| From talk to work | ||
| The free tier | Free Suite is free with no expiry as long as you log in at least once every 60 days, and comes with two user licences. | Eight people, and no clock that starts when you stop logging in. |
| Where the work lives | The conversation is in Slack and the record is in Sales Cloud. Internal delivery work — boards, processes, deadlines — is usually a third product again. | Chat, boards, processes and the calendar are one product; tickets and CRM are in development inside the same one. |
| People and focus | ||
| Guests | Two policies to run, one on each side of the stack. | One policy, on every plan: one named channel and one project on Boards. |
| Culture, clients, tickets | ||
| Culture: kudos, surveys, eNPS | Not part of either product. | From the free plan; pulse surveys and eNPS from Workspace. |
| Where it runs | ||
| Who you sign with | Two entities. For a customer in the EU outside France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, Sales Cloud is contracted with SFDC Ireland Limited. Slack bought through its own website is contracted with Slack Technologies Limited. | One entity: HOMtu® sp. z o.o., a Polish company. |
| The law, and the courtroom | Both Irish companies — and both agreements are governed by the law of England, with venue in London. That is outside the European Union. | Polish law, in a Polish court, in Polish. |

Giving the point away
Three of them, and none is a throwaway. If these are what your team runs on, Salesforce (Slack + Sales Cloud) is the right answer and we would rather you knew now.
Sales Cloud is the reference implementation of enterprise CRM: forecasting, territories, approvals, an object model you can bend into almost any business. Our CRM is in development. At that scale this is not a contest.
We say so on our Slack page and we will say it here. Its directory, its Connect channels and the fact that half the industry already knows it are advantages we cannot match today.
Slack and Sales Cloud are owned by the same company, and the integration between them is first-party rather than a connector someone maintains in their spare time.
Where the difference shows
For a customer in the EU outside a handful of named countries, Sales Cloud is contracted with SFDC Ireland Limited and Slack with Slack Technologies Limited — two Irish companies, and both agreements governed by the law of England with venue in London. Irish entities, English courts, outside the EU. Ours is Polish law in a Polish court.
They are one company commercially and two on paper. That is two sets of terms, two notice addresses and two conversations if something goes wrong.
Slack talks and Sales Cloud remembers the customer, but boards, deadlines and repeatable processes for delivery are usually a third subscription. In taos they are the same product as the chat.
Free Suite stays free as long as someone logs in at least once every 60 days, and gives two user licences. Ours is eight people with no login clock.
Kudos, Feedback Friday, leaderboards, anniversaries and surveys from the free plan; pulse surveys and eNPS from Workspace. Neither product in this stack has that layer.
An agency in several client organisations switches between them without logging out, with every notification from every module and every organisation in one list.
